Since childhood, Henk has enjoyed painting and drawing as a hobby. Within the family his artistic ability, which is often inherited, was nurtured. In Holland he learned to draw as a youngster. Throughout his school years he was involved with “art”. Even after high school where Henk found some popularity by doing portraits of fellow students, drawing and painting were part of his life.
Along with raising a family and earning a living, Henk still found time for drawing and painting. At times it was just a simple greeting card; once it was a collection of signage used in a grocery store.
Henk is best known for his Cowichan Valley Heritage series of watercolors. This is a collection of some of the picturesque old churches and buildings around the Cowichan valley. Prints or cards of his art work are available.
Over the years he has done all sorts of commissioned pieces and is always interested in doing more. His style is based on good drawing skills and a sense of balance, rendering work that reflect his love of familiar scenes and people dear to him. Feel free to contact him and he would be happy to discuss any requests you may have.
